Once again, a massive missed opportunity for actual leadership.
Democrats waited far too long to say anything about the rioting, looting and attacks on law enforcement after the BLM riots. Afraid of angering the base, they sat there, watching along with the country, as cars, were set on fire, businesses looted, and said nothing. Eventually, we got the occasional “violence has no place…” nonsense, but not a word or action to stop the absurdity.
And now, the response is to attack Trump for bringing in the National Guard. Somehow, they are blaming Trump now.
What Democrats have not figured out is how the rest of the country, the very voters they need to start winning elections that they have lost in recent years, sees this. To them, and let’s be fair, to most logical Americans, seeing riots and Trump calling in backup makes him the adult in the room. It makes him the one that wants to protect infrastructure, highways, private businesses. It’s not JP Morgans corporate offices being looted, its small mom-and-pop businesses destroyed. Its massive insurance claims that will cause an increase in rates. Its the lives of real people, real law enforcement, real families, at risk.
And Trump sent in the reinforcements.
For years now, I’ve clamored for anyone to put forward a real path to citizenship for immigrants here illegally. Biden was in office for 4 years and didn’t propose anything. Now, we know why that is now, but we still saw not one ounce of leadership.
And now we have those here against the law being deported. Same as Obama, same as Clinton. I don’t remember riots then.
And now, the country sees riots, damage, attacks on police, and it then sees Trump doing something about it. And all the Dems can do is bitch on the sidelines.
Why are Democrats losing? They have no idea how to read the room.
