BRANFORD – The Branford Board of Finance will begin hearing a presentation on new fields at Walsh Intermediate School Monday night, as requested by first selectman Jamie Cosgrove.

The presentation will be made by engineers BL Companies, with a cost estimate coming in at $7.5 million. the major project, which includes 2 all-purpose fields, a 3-lane walking track, new playground and basketball courts, will also feature a new state-of-the-art lighting system that meets the needs of the athletic demands while minimizing light pollution in the neighborbood.

The Walsh fields are part of a standalone project, separate from a townwide study currently underway that analyzes town needs, including fields and pickleball courts.

The Board of Finance is hearing multiple projects Monday, including a major renovation to the police station that is estimated at $20 million, and no vote on Walsh fields is expected yet.
