Longtime Branford Senior Center director Dagmar Ridgeway has announced her retirement, with her final day August 16.

Ridgeway stated in a letter to seniors that she and her husband have taken positions as tour guides for a travel company that sponsors trips worldwide.

Ridgeway was hired 46 years ago by then first selectman John Sliney and worked under Matthew Brady.

“I am proud of the legacy I leave behind and am grateful to have worked with amazing Canoe Brook colleagues, fellow Town employees, and members of the Elderly Commission,” she said. “What I will miss are you the Seniors, you have enriched my life beyond measure, each and every day. We have traveled the world together, laughed, cried, and helped one another through some pretty crazy times. I thank you for the memories; I treasure each and every one of them.”
