BRANFORD – A new facility featuring indoor pickleball is being proposed for East Industrial Road in Branford.

The new facility is being developed by a group of investors led by Tom Hinding, a shoreline resident who has built a career in building tennis and pickleball courts, including work for many municipalities.

Years ago, Hinding predicted the rise in pickleball, and its growth has helped fuels his business. He is also now predicting the rise of a new sport, padel, which will have courts at the new facility as well. Padel is sport that is enclosed, like racketball, only with a net.

The new facility is currently being heard by Planning and Zoning, and is likely to be approved in the next month. From there, according to Hinding, it should take about a year to open, ready for next fall.

Memberships will be a low monthly fee that allow court time rentals. Take a look below at some of the renderings of the new facility.
